Summer 2018 half-term holiday Advanced Games Design & Digital Images course

Running this coming Summer half term, this course involves creating two advanced games. The first is a star battle using AI which requires player skill and practice to master. The second is a block puzzle game this time requiring strategy and cunning to complete. Students will also be encouraged to create a new game of their own design, inspired by what they have learnt.

Four 2 hour sessions. 10am - 12 midday each day

NOTE: Your child must have already attended a Taster Session or after school club to attend this course.

Age range & SEN

This course is suitable for any 9-12 year old child who has good experience of Scratch (intermediate or advanced), or has a keen interest in learning coding. Is your child ready?

Course content

Gov.UK logoOur courses cover attainment targets from the new National Computing Curriculum.

Digital image and games design concepts including photography, scanning, image editing, file formats, interactive animation, character and object control, and programming concepts including procedural algorithms, properties and variables.

Course content is tailored to challenge and improve each learner's existing skills and knowledge. Learners are continually assessed to establish the level they are working at and to stretch them.

CertificateAccreditation & levels

This course is accredited with Games Designer Level 3, 4 & 5 Pixel Gang Certificates. To earn a certificate learners must complete tasks and create supporting evidence.
